ilmu mantiq adalah alat atau dasar yang penggunaannya akan menjaga kesalahan dalam berpikir. Lebih jelasnya, Mantiq adalah sebuah ilmu yang membahas tentang alat dan formula berpikir, sehingga seseorang yang menggunakannya akan selamat dari cara berpikir salah. Manusia sebagai makhluk yang berpikir tidak akan lepas dari berpikir. Namun, saat berpikir, manusia seringkali dipengaruhi oleh berbagai tendensi, emosi, subyektifitas dan lainnya sehingga is tidak dapat berpikir jemih, logis dan obyektif. Mantiq merupakan upaya agar seseorang dapat berpikir dengan cara yang benar, tidak keliru. Dalam Katalog Induk Naskah-Naskah Nusantara, yang merupakan katalog resin) naskah-naskah kuno yang terdapat di perpustakaan Nasional Republik Indonesia, terdapat hanya satu koleksi karp Athir al-Din Mufaddal ibn umar al-Abhari dengan nomor A 176 d ang berjudul Emu Mantiq. Karya ini pun ada dalam koleksi Tehran university Central Library and Documentation Center dengan nomor koleksi B 123, tetapi dengan nama yang berbeda yaitu Kitab al-isaghuli fi al-mantiq. Naskah ilmu Mantiq terdiri atas 54 halaman.
Keadaan kertas sudah cukup parah, selain memiliki lubang di pinggir naskah, naskah ini pun memiliki lubang yang cukup banyak di tengah naskah, karena memang usia naskah ini memcapai hampir 400 tahun. Naskah ini ditulis pada tahun 1666. Naskah kuno ini yang berjudul Ilnuu Mantic/ memiliki teknik penulisan yang rapi,
hal ini dapat terlihat dari konsistennya penulis naskah dalam menghitung jumlah bans pada tiap-tiap
lembarnya. Bahkan tepi tulisannya pun sangat teratur dan lures, walaupun tanpa menggunakan garis bantu
pada tepi halaman. Akan tetapi, hal ini tidak diimbangi oleh teknik penulisan catatan yang teratur juga,
karena cara penulisan seperti ini cukup menyulitan penulis untuk memberikan catatan pada setiap teks yang ingin diberi penjelasan.
