This is how to keep your kidneys healthy

1 in 20 people have kidney disease without knowing it, reminds the Foundation of the kidney on the occasion of the World Day dedicated to the good health of this organ, March 9, 2017.

  • Stay fit and have regular physical activity
  • Regularly check your blood sugar and cholesterol levels
  • Monitor blood pressure and reduce salt intake that promotes high blood pressure
  • Healthy eating by maintaining adequate fluid intake (and adequate water intake)
  • Monitor your weight
  • Do not smoke
  • Do not consume over-the-counter medications on a regular basis (especially non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, which can lead to functional renal failure in the long term)
  • If you have one or more risk factors (diabetes, high blood pressure, family history), have your kidney function check

Yep, stay hydrated. Its amazing how many people go through the day and don't realize they are dehydrated and what a strain that puts on their kidneys.

Yes..studies says that we must drink at least 1.5 L of water per day!
