WHY LEAVES ARE GREEN?...

Prolegomenon

The majority of us know that leaves have a green color. Leaves are one part of plant organs that grow from twigs. Obviously leaves contain green substances or chlorophyll. The green color on the leaves functions ie to catch an energy from a light. for photosynthesis. Leaves are an important organ in plants to survive. because plants are a mandatory autotrophic organism that must supply its own energy needs through a conversion of light from the sun to chemical energy. In accordance with the above questions, this is a biological study, and can only be explained scientifically.

Study

Leaf green substances are pigments present in various organisms and become one of the major role molecules in photosynthesis. Chlorophyll gives a green color to green leafy plants and green algae, but is also shared by other algae, and some groups of photosynthetic bacteria. In terrestrial plants and green algae, chlorophyll is produced and isolated on a plastide called a chloroplast. Chlorophyll molecules absorb red, blue, and purple light, also reflect green and slightly yellow light, so the human eye receives this color.

But it can not be denied, there are also some leaves are not green, for example yellow. Leaves generally have chlorophyll-dominated green pigments, inside plant fibers. It can be seen that the role of chlorophyll, land plants can make their own food with the help of sunlight to become autotrophic organism. The green pigment of the leaves serves this chlorophyll, to absorb the sun's rays, by this process of photosynthesis, in other words there is a process of synthesizing the essence of food with the aid of light from the sun.

So. Green pigments are present and made in a plastid cell portion, called a chloroplast. The green pigment covers other color pigments such as red and yellow. So the leaves look green because the leaves contain lots of chlorophyll fruits. Then the sunlight when divided into several light with different wavelengths. Then with the help of human prisms can detect red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and purple.

In the bright conditions of photosynthesis, Chlorophyll can absorb red and blue light purple useful. while the yellow, green light is reflected. So why leaves look green. to be more easily understood then appear a question, Why green leaves can change color Besides chlorophyll, some types of leaves have other pigments.

In the understanding of carotenoids are organic pigments found in chloroplasts and plant chromoplasts and other groups of organisms such as algae.

There are some bacteria both photosynthesis and not, they can be produced by these organisms from lipids and molecules, with the basic organic metabolite. Completely heterotrophic organisms, such as animals, also utilize carotenoids and obtain them from the foods they eat.

  1. carotene absorbs blue-green light, its leaves are red and yellow.
  2. Anthocyanins can absorb lots of blue light, blue-greenish, and green, and reflect red light.

Conclusion

From the above description can dippulkan that green plants are plants that contain chlorophyll which is usually used for photosynthesis.

  1. Green leafy plants are the only living things in the world that can make their own food.

  2. Plant green leaf substances referred to as producers and ranks first in the food chain.

  3. Plants have a way to make their own food or the process of making food in green plants called photosynthesis.

  4. In the process of making food or photosynthesis, chlorophyll requires essential ingredients. Materials used in water, carbon dioxide, and sunlight or light.

  1. The role in this case is the plant organ, the process of making food is the root, stems and leaves. In the process of photosynthesis produced carbohydrates and oxygen. Carbohydrates are used by plants to grow, breathe, multiply and some are stored as food reserves.
