Physics and Consciousness: The "Double Slit" Experiment

The observer influences the reality he observes. In the quantum world, electrons are both waves and particles. The experiment of the "double slit" proves the dual nature of light: she is both a wave and a set of particles (the photons). The same incredible result was later also achieved in matter (dualism as we shall see also applies to electrons).

The experiment consists in projecting quantum particles through a barrier that contains two small slits in order to measure how they are detected after they are released.

Common sense tells us that if I throw a tennis ball against a wall that has two holes, the ball passes through a hole or through the other, however, evidence shows that at a given moment, between the starting point and the arrival point, something really extraordinary happens to the particles...

Putting behind the wall with the two holes, a film able to "mark" the impact site of the particle, it has been discovered that when the particle is thrown against this wall with two slits it behaves in two different ways, depending on the phenomenon observation:

If the experiment is left free to act undisturbed (if no one does the measure or if no one looks at it) the film placed behind the wall marks an impact point, from a hole or the other, as we expect from the tennis ball.

but if the experiment is observed, and here it is beautiful, the particle behaves like a wave, it passes from both slits at the same time.

The only possible explanation in this case is that the observation has somehow forced the electron to travel as if it was a wave, even reaching its destination in the same way it started: as a particle.

To do this, the electron must be able to perceive the observer's existence...

I do not know if you realize what that means ... I get shivered when I think of it, and I'm a physics student.

Here comes the role of consciousness. Since it is assumed that the electron is not really able to "know" anything in the narrow sense of the term, the only other source of that awareness is the person who observes the experiment. The conclusion is that somehow the knowledge that the electron has two possible ways to go is in the mind of the observer and that it is precisely the conscience of the observer who determines how the electron travels.

How can it be that by simply observing a wave it becomes particle?

The fact that light is a wave of energy if we do not observe it, or a particle of physical matter if we observe it means that it depends on us whether to look at and focus on a particle or not. Whether light will make its appearance as a particle or continue its existence as a wave depend on our choice. This wave-particle duality, one of the pillars of quantum physics, has surprising consequences in our lives.

Just as with light particles, anything we pay attention to in our world. When you buy, for example. A new red car, you suddenly start seeing many red cars on the road. It is the same phenomenon: what you focus on is what appears. Maybe you think if you did not buy the new car you would not notice the other red cars.

But the truth is that without your attention they would not be there!

What I want to say is that the first step to change your life is to accept that choosing what you observe is your responsibility. In fact, our world, that is our physical reality, does not appear if we do not observe it. It is the act of observing, of focusing that creates the result, be it a light particle or a red car.

Until we make it clear, our universe, like light, exists only as energy waves, as probable waves.

We have made our universe evident, we have always done so, only that we were not aware of it. But then how can this be done if we are not aware of it?

Observing, paying attention. What a person focuses on is what will appear in his life, in his world; What we all focus on is what we all will live. Truth is that we are all responsible for it.
