11 Scientific Facts Also Found in the Bible (Part I)
It’s true that science and religion don’t share the same perspective on a number of things. Maybe that’s why so many great scientists throughout the centuries have been atheists and rejected religion, even though some of them have admitted believing in a supreme being.
Surprisingly, as scientific research continues to unfold the wonders and mysteries of our universe, more and more things that the Bible describes—which were once considered a bad farce by scientific circles—have been proved right, or almost right.
And before you rush to judgment and call me a religious freak or anything of the kind, keep in mind that this article is written by the same dude whose piece on atheism was republished by the modern father of atheism himself, Richard Dawkins.
Despite my personal beliefs, I am a researcher and writer first; always keep that in mind. I will seek the truth no matter what I may personally believe.
BLOOD IS THE SOURCE OF LIFE (Leviticus 17:11, 14)
According to Leviticus 17:11 and verse 14, blood is the source of life and health, and until a hundred years ago or so, people were dying from coughing up blood and there was no explanation for the phenomenon. Science nowadays reassures us that healthy blood is totally necessary to bring life-giving nutrients to every cell in the body. However, the Bible declared that “the life of the flesh is in the blood” a few thousand years before science understood its full function.
HUMAN BODIES ARE MADE FROM EARTH (Genesis 2:7; 3:19)
To be completely honest and fair, the atheists and agnostics of previous ages—before science proved the Bible right—used to have a lot of fun with this one, using it as a ridiculous anecdote to make fun of religious folks. In recent years, however, scientists have discovered that the human body is indeed comprised of some twenty-eight base and trace elements, all of which are found in the earth. Say what?
THE UNIVERSE HAD A STARTING POINT (Genesis 1:1 & Hebrews 1:10–12)
Starting with the theories of Albert Einstein in the early twentieth century and continuing with the Big Bang Theory (not the sitcom, idiot!), throughout the past century most scientists have pretty much confirmed the biblical view that the universe had a starting point.
Keep in mind that when the Bible stories were written, the accepted belief was that the universe had no beginning or end. In modern times, however, it seems science agrees with the Bible on a topic that has usually been a minefield between it and religion.
LIGHT TRAVELS THROUGH THE UNIVERSE (Job 38:19)
Job 38:19 mentions that light appears to have a “way” of traveling. Until the seventeenth century it was believed that light was transmitted instantaneously. However, today we know that light is a form of energy that travels at about 186,000 miles per second in a straight line.
THE INCALCULABLE NUMBER OF STARS (Jeremiah 33:22)
It is estimated that when the Bible was written fewer than five thousand stars were visible to the naked eye. Despite this fact, the Bible clearly states that the stars of heaven are innumerable. Not until the seventeenth century did Galileo glimpse the immensity of our universe with his new telescope.
Today, astronomers estimate that there are ten thousand billion trillion stars, which pretty much means that the number of stars is almost incalculable, just as the Bible says in more poetic language.
