Termite Love Nests

And then there were millions!

Yesterday, I posted about flying ants, which are actually termites. I described how they take a very short flight and then settle down with their mates. Which sounded kinda cute.

What wasn't cute was going out for a walk this evening and being confronted in the driveway by a massive horde of termites making their way to the house.

As we walked there were literally termites everywhere - all paired off and digging little holes to nest in. It was getting dark by the time we got home, and they had started thinning out the later it got. I hoped that the termites had scarpered off elsewhere.

But no - there were hundreds of them making their love nests in the driveway. Digging in between the pavers.

So I made a little video of it - and it contains a serious warning for the termite lovers:
