When we in the U.S.A., as a nation, spend over six hundred billion dollars annually on defense, and only thirty billion on understanding our health, one must question whether there actually is intelligent life on Earth.
What is needed is a new social alternative and a transition towards a more appropriate way of thinking about ourselves, the environment and the management of our natural resources. We are depleting our resources 50% faster than our planet can renew. The Venus Project proposes a global joint venture for intelligent and efficient resource management. Outgrowing the confines of a monetary system for universal access to resources is essential. Human and environmental concerns must become our only priorities.
The Venus Project advocates a design for world unification based upon the carrying capacity of the planet, its resources and the needs of all people. To sustain our civilization, we advocate the coordination of advanced technology and available resources with a humane systems approach. Unfortunately, only in times of war or national emergency do we assemble interdisciplinary teams to find workable solutions to social problems. But, more than ever, it is now needed for our very survival. If we mobilize the same resources for social problems as we do in our war efforts, beneficial effects on a large scale can be achieved in a relatively short time.

We have to ask the question, why is the health care bill like it is.
Why we support unhealthy over healthy.
To clarify that:
If someone is Sick and goes to a doctor the doctor and the pharmacy industry gets payed as log the patient stays sick, needs help and medicine.
Where is the incentive to heal the patient?
We reward sickness, what is that for a greedy behavior?
Is there really no way to reward the healing of the patient?

Definitely agree and I'll add that the beginning of civilization is yet to arrive. When we use the sharpest minds and brightest people to kill people and rap the planet we do it extremely well. Now to me using those people and those minds to solve the problem of bills, my friend, this can be done. Where is the energy and will, but on the beginning items. Well there is great news we don't have to convince everyone just the ones that want and support the extinction of war, poverty, unnecessary human suffering and environmental degradation and are open to use the methods of science to enhance live and can understand that behavior is shaped by the environment and when we use the current science and technology to make an access abundance for all we may never look at our times with any nostalgia. Remember TheVenusProject.com and it's ideas are not how the world will be but what it can be and future generations will improve upon it. This may or may not happen. We are more likely headed to our own extinction, but it's what we do today that will effect tomorrow.
Extensionality Always
This all sounds good, but, we don't know the carrying capacity of the earth.
The carrying capacity of the earth is far higher today than it was a century ago. And with regenerative agriculture (look up Joel Salatin of Polyface Farms) it carrying capacity will be much higher. And with energetic seed propagation it will be even higher still.
So, anyone trying to state a number for carrying capacity, is at best trying to hit a moving target, and at worst a lying liar.
Yes, it is sad that the govern-cement spends so little on actual health of people. But, is this really a bad thing? The information the govern-cement publishes about health is all anti-truth. The food pyramid panders to the big agriculture industry instead of to anything that is actual health.
If you went opposite to everything that the FDA has said over the years, you would be healthier then if you followed their statements.
Like carrying capacity, health is not something we have actually been studying. We have been studying its counter-opposite.
