HOW SCIENTIFIC IS THE BIBLE? FIND OUT ITS CORRELATION WITH SCIENCE

I was prompted to write this article because of the love I have for geography combined with knowledge I got while reading the bible, I developed this love when I was about six year old. My father was a school teacher and I was at the junior class, after dismissing the junior class I will wait for him, during this period I listen to him as he teach geography. One day I called him and told him all he thought in the class room he was amazed.

Lets look at what the bible said and how it correlates with science.

He stretches out the northern sky over empty space, suspending the earth upon nothing”………….. Job 26:7

The philosophers believe that the earth was carried by three giant Elephants standing on top of tortoise, until the soviet union made their way to the space, and the true nature of the earth and force of gravity was discovered. But before then thousands of years earlier the bible book of job has recorded this, stipulating that the earth is suspended upon nothing.

The second bible portion to consider is

Ecc. 1:7…. All the streams flow into sea, yet the sea is not full…..To the place from which the stream flow, there they return so as to flow again”
This bible portion described the water circle before the scientist discovered it.

Lets look at water cycle but here I will use language understandable to all.
Water cycle shows how water evaporates from surface of the earth, escape to the atmosphere condenses into snow in clouds and fall back again to surface earth as precipitation. The water that fall on surface earth absorbed in the soil, collect by rivers, ocean, and porous rock evaporate to the atmosphere. This process of evaporation be seen some times as a form of mirage.

The next bible portion that is scientific is

“There is one who dwells above the circle of the earth”…… Isaiah 40:22.

Before the Soviet Union travel to the space bible thousands of year ago has described the true shape of the earth as circle, the bible translators may have used circle because some languages lack the word to denote spherical. Example is my indigenous language (Igbo) there is no word for spherical all spherical objects is regarded as circle.

Before the Soviet Union made their discovery, a man called Ferdinand Magellan with his crew out of curiosity traveled three year in the ocean in an expedition to discover the true shape of the earth. They believe in a flat world, and they think that at a point that their ship will sail and fall off the flat earth that is why they told others that if they did not return they should draw the conclusion that the earth is flat.

On the process of this expedition months after months they still return to the same point they left (circumnavigation), they now concluded that the earth is circle. imaging wasting so much years on research while the bible thousands of year said the same thing, they would have based their expedition on what the bible said but they ignored the bible because they felt that it was written and documented by unlettered people.

Now lets look at proof that science have about sphericity of the earth.

 Ship visibility

If you are on the shore and a ship is approaching, you will first of all see the flag and gradually other body parts will surface. If we live on a flat earth you see all the parts of the ship immediately.

 Circumnavigation of the Earth
As mentioned above, Ferdinand Magellan and his crew traveled many years in the ocean and they did not fell off the flat earth as they thought rather continue to circumnavigate.

 The circular horizon

If you are at the middle of the ocean or at a height just look around if possible at 360 all you will see is a circular horizon.

Looking at sun rise from the east, you will notice that the body of the sun gradually appear, if we live in a flat earth we will just wake up and see the full size of the sun
