We practically live in lies. Our world is a shelter for so many people from different walks of life who lie, lie, and lie again. It is a painful truth, but we all benefit from it as much as we are hurt by it. We pull off a different image to impress an important person for something like a career, so we can say technically, we lie our asses off to get what we want. Now, although that may be the most common and sort of an acceptable justification why people lie, we still miss a lot of causes as to why this form of betrayal takes place.

Here are reasons why people lie: (to be followed by why it keeps happening)

1. It is important....to them

---

Many people feel strongly about certain topics they discuss with people that sometimes, in the middle of an argument about the topic, they create lies to win as if it mattered in a rational sense in the first place when it is just they who feel strongly about what they are talking about. This sense of importance the lying person feels is rooted from pressure which affects many people and influence them into making impulsive choices like this irrational impulse to lie. Hell, under pressure is when people even start to rape or commit murder...

2. They don't want to be a disappointment

Obviously a lot of people lie to hide something that might make people look at them at a bad light. We are so subconsciously anxious about our images sometimes especially when it comes to people important to us that we want them to see only our good sides or to at least make them believe made-up good sides we don't really have. People even lie about being sorry or ashamed of doing or saying something just to keep their good standing in one's eyes (take celebrities and other public figures as best examples).

3. They're not really aware they're lying

There are people who easily get overwhelmed with stress that sometimes they see pictures of memories that are unreliably real from which they get the lies they make. This could be a disorder as it could lead to them making an alternate reality of their own. Yikess....

4. They wish those lies were real

---

People dream about so many things they want in life that when it does not seem to be possible or maybe just a little late from coming true, they like an immediate narration of it being true to brag and feel good about themselves. Also, upon repeatedly saying those lies, they feel as though they gradually turn to be real. To be honest, it's like lowkey hypnotizing yourself into thinking something is real--you say the thing over and over and BAM! IT'S REAL!

Most people lie because of the simple reason that they want to do what they want to do without anyone stopping them or giving them comments on their decisions. There are the cheaters who hide their affairs in refusal to be criticized and to keep enjoying their freedom. Now what does this say about our selves or our society?

We can say that looking at ourselves then, we are actually just naturally into the idea of freedom--to do something usually frowned upon, to get one's head out of the current struggle-filled life, and to be free to achieve trust and other rewarding things in life. Lying doesn't sound this justified though when we are caught in it--making it, being hurt by it--for we are still vulnerable to the pain of betrayal.

We expect something and when we get caught in the lie or find out about it, we just feel that weakening betrayal creeping all over our bodies that then transforms into anger. Our society has religions that despise lying, thus we have adapted with those teachings that affect the way we react with lying. Also we somewhat agree with Immanuel Kant's philosophy which is that if we don't want something to be done to us, then we shouldn't do it as well and observe such way as morality.

We all know how we hate being lied to or betrayed, thus the anger we feel when it happens, yet we still go about life lying. Perhaps that is why it never ends--yes, we subconsciously think lying is necessary for everyone, we can't really bring down everyone else who does it--not even those who did it to us...
