I find it very hard to believe that we would be the only ones in all of space. We can't even think to travel far enough to see what is out there and it's just so vast how is it possible that our spec of dust (in the realm of space) is the only spec that can have life and still does.
Completely agree that scientists are to rigid many times in their thinking. They have a hypothesis and go out to prove it. This approach leads to finding facts that support their thoughts while ignoring others that may have much more importance if they just went into things with a completely open mind.
I totally agree with what you say @thedarkhorse.
In my opinion, many scientists have an opinion and try to prove it's correct.
When I have an opinion/idea about something my first thought is why I might be wrong about it and why it could be different than I assume :)

Not strange, just open minded and willing to accept that you aren't always right.
Honestly this is the exact same problem with the "News" also. They are trying to prove their agenda vs actually reporting the news which should be done in an unbiased way.
Governments are the same too. Look at the whole Syria situation right now. IMO there is no way to know if the information we are being fed is real or fabricated to support the working position of Governments that are controlling the information.
It happens at so many levels and that means all information we take in needs to be looked at with a critical eye.
WOW - finally found somebody again thinking the same way as I am!
There are more and more critical people around but most people still think "It was on the news on the telly - so it's true" ... so sad.
Many people are manipulated by the well paid MSM on daily bases and questioning what they are told.
And when asking them they will deny believing but still spread the "news".
The phrase sheeple is very fitting for a lot of people.
