Loving the physics posts. Runaway expansion of the universe isn't much better either. With all of the galaxies moving farther away until even the stars in our own galaxy disappear from the night sky. Reminds me of Fire and Ice by Robert Frost.
Oh yeah also there is another one about that one eventually because of those moving apart situation. Our universe won't going to generate enough heat to maintain life so it is going to be really cold after a lot of expansion :D
