Hawkweed Seed Under The Microscope 🔬
What I initially thought was dandelion seed, but then I realised it wasn’t due to missing long thin stem. So off I went to search online to see what it could be. First I thought it may be a cat’s ear species, but their seed structure is very similar to dandelion. Then I noticed the hawkweed species that look similar to dandelions and the seeds look like the specimen I have collected. Thus I believe it is a type of hawkweed seed that I have collected, or something close to it. Who knows, I'm no expert.
Does anyone here know what it is?
Looking closer at the seed, the bristly tuft has what look like hooks on them and seems serrated. Pretty interesting looking at things that look and feel soft but really don't look it close up.

I find that amazing too, things that look soft and fluffy to us are actually sharp and jaggered through the microscope. If we could see in a microscopic field of vision it would be a whole different world.
I was just thinking that yesterday too when I was writing this up. It would make a different world for sure.
It looks great and so different. Seeds are fascinating to look at and under a microscope it's a different world.
