Butterflies look like very delicate creatures and they come in various forms, size and colours. Here we have a yellow butterfly which my brother had caught and wanted me to hold the small container to put it in. I was scared and screaming like a little girl, oh wait I am a girl. I was excited but more prettified because I could not hold this little jar let alone close the lid with this living creature so close to my fingers. So I cried for my partner to come do it while my friends laughed at me.

Once I had it in a jar, I popped it into a small zip-lock bag because for whatever reason I believed the butterfly could escape a twist lock jar. I needed double protection to feel safe. I then placed it into the freezer to put it to sleep….forever….. (I’m sorry little butterfly 😭). But this little guy was tough as nails. He started to wake up after I had taken him out of the freezer. So I had to put him in longer. Once again, I’m so sorry. 😭

Here is a picture of the butterfly parts. One thing that stood out for me looking at the butterfly with my eyes, were its antenna. At the tip of the antenna was a little thicker. So this was one of the parts I wanted to check out under the microscope, including its beady eyes and beautiful wings.

Just looking at the butterfly with my eyes, the yellow colour of the butterfly is a dull looking yellow. However looking up close, I was utterly surprised at how vibrant the yellow colour was.

Let us see what we can see under the microscope.

Wow look at how big the eye is and how furry looking the butterfly looks. More importantly, check out the colour pattern on the antenna.

Let us look at the tip of the antenna closer. Wow you can see what looks like long scales.

Oh my, check out the wing. These scales pieces look like mini feathers woven together to make this wing. But in fact they are scales.

The legs also have these scale pieces that look like mini feathers. Furthermore, it is a bit furry looking here too.

Again I am sorry little butterfly, but you now have a good home in my awesome collection. I promise to treat you well.
