Why some people despite the facts doubt climate change.
Well, most of us can agree that the climate is changing. But here are some who choose to ignore it!
Our scientists are so sure that climate change is real and that the humans are the cause. We've filled libraries with reports and statistical evidence about climate change. Still 3 to 4 out of 10 aren't convinced. Plus among the majority of people who believe in climate change, people don't seem to be doing much about it.
Here are a couple of reasons why facts don't seem to always matter.
Our brain fights with itself, to keep us from responding to threats. The problem is, we are human.
Some psychologists say: 'our modern skulls house a Stone Age mind.' What it means is that we are dealing with problems of today using tools from our brain's evolutionary past. We respond more strongly to threats that are more personal, and that affect us now. Climate change is a gradual, impersonal thing that always seems to live in the future.
Our brain consists from two brains. One is rational and the other one is emotional. The rational one seems to be in control but the emotional one has the last say. Lots of the time our emotional brain isn't even 'listening'
A psychologist Daniel Kahneman concluded that when u are facing threats that we're faced with uncertain threats, about things we might lose in the distant future, our brain will invent all kinds of excuses not to act today.
When we talk about the climate change it always seems to happen in the future tense.
For example a reaserch done by the Yale University shows that 65% of people think that climate change will harm future generations. And 38% believe that it will harm them personaly. This could be called out optimism bias cause we believe that bad things only happen to other people. We have a tendency to cherry-pick evidence that support our existing personal beliefs. It doesn't help that so many climate change threats are becoming more and more familiar that they are just ... normal.
Summers are getting hotter, winters are getting colder. The climate becomes more and more "agressive", raging storms and hurricanes apear more and more often. But still many people decide to turn a blind eye. Without any action from us there could be irreversible damage.
I don't personaly believe that we can harm Earth or are causing the climate change. Yes, the climate is changing, but it seems to be a process that we are just accelerating with our greenhouse gas emissions. It is possible for Earth to shake us just off, and continue its eternal journey in the cosmos.

Here is an interesting article by Diasdr about climate change : Here
WHO says 250,000 people a year will die from climate change temperature changes. We're also rising above the temperature for which Earth is ideal for economic growth (around 13 degrees Celsius). Earth will be fine, we're only harming ourselves.
Recent research suggest we are not simply accelerating it, but that we are responsible for virtually all warming that has taken place in the past 30 to 40 years.
There have been shifts in the climate hundreds of times, levels of oxygen and co2 were different, the impact that our existance has on the planet is big, but not that big. It is not about destroying our home planet, it is about destroying our selves. The balance may shift. Who knows what will happen to us. But lige on earth won't cease to exist. Plus our data is from a beru short period, and one study can not prove much. Thanks for reading! :)
There has been shifts, but never one so dramatic.
We do have a pretty good idea what will happen to us. We have dozens of studies showing the negative effects on the economy, and dozens more showing the impact it will have on deaths. Really, we have dozens of studies on every way climate change will impact humans, and none of them are good.
What will happen to us, exactly!
