#Fe-C diagram

in #science7 years ago

Melting point of steel is usually 1370°C and that of iron is 1539°C

steels are alloys of Iron (Fe) and Carbon (C).
The temperature where iron looses its magnetism (so-called Curie temperature.
For plain carbon steel with carbon concentrations below 2 %.
Depending on carbon content, it is common practice to divide the iron-iron carbide diagram into two parts:-
1)Alloys containing less than 2 percent carbon are known as steels and
2).Alloys containing more than 2 percent carbon are known as cast irons.
The steel range is further subdivided by
The eutectoid carbon content (0.8 percent C).
1)Steels containing less than 0.8 percent C are called hypoeutectoid steels
2)while those containing between 0.8 to 2.0 percent C are called hypereutectoid steels.
Cast iron;-
The cast iron range is also subdivided by
eutectic carbon content (4.3 percent C).
1)Cast irons that contain less than 4.3 percent C are known as hypoeutectic cast irons
2)And those containing more than 4.3 percent C are called hypereutectic cast irons.

Never heard of hypereutectic cast irons but it was so interesting...

Nice post,
Also check my post

Nice,,,,,🙂

Nice work keep it up and grow fast...

Are you ready to start making monatomic gold yet? We need some White Powder Gold to get things going.

White powder gold😂😂?

Only for the awakening
