Close-Up Picture of Jupiter
The atmosphere of Jupiter has many intricate patterns
This is a picture was made by the citizen scientist Gabriel Fiset, which is made out of information taken by NASA’s Juno spacecraft. This is from about 54 thousand kilometers above the planet, and is able to clearly show the organized turbulence within the atmosphere. In many places the atmosphere is in unorganized filamentary strips. [1]
Even though Jupiter is the largest planet, it has the shortest day in our solar system. Jupiter is made out of hydrogen and helium, and has the largest ocean of any planet in the solar system. This ocean is made up of liquid hydrogen, which is kept a liquid due to the extreme pressure. The colorful skies are made up of three layers. The top layer is mostly ammonia ice, the middle layer is ammonium hydrosulfide crystals, the bottom layer is most likely ice and water vapor.
It's the first time I see Jupiter from "above" (or is it from below? There's no up or down in space), it completely changed my standard idea of it (you know, the reddish planet with the big red spot on it). This picture inspired me a new post idea, thank you so much for sharing! :-)
Very strange structure

real photographers are astronomers haha
One day we go there :))
On a gas giant? I'll pass ;)
Me too... if I go then I make one photo and I fly further :))
Wise choice! :-)
