China Is Planning To Build Its Own HAARP

in #science6 years ago

Recently, the South China Morning Post uncovered the plans of the Chinese Government to build a large radar on the Hainan island. The Chinese are presenting this as a high power radar incoherent scatter radar that will study the Earth’s ionosphere.

The project of a massive radar system comes at a similar time to all the other Chinese science mega-projects. China is planning to build the worlds most powerful particle accelerator, they already have the largest radio telescope disc and they are working on fusion, bio-medicine, and other top-tier science projects. But experts think that this radar won't be doing much research but it will serve the Chinese military.

Interestingly, a similar device is already in operation under the American flag. It’s nothing else than the legendary HAARP (High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program) in Alaska. You may know HAARP because of the almost unending number of conspiracies that come with it – it’s a weather control device, earthquake causing device, tsunami causing device or even mind-control device.

The Chinese radar on Hainan will be similar to HAARP in many ways. While it will be much less powerful, “just” a few hundred megawatts compared to 5.1 gigawatts that HAARP can produce it seem that because of its strategic location it will have more of a military function compared to HAARP. You see, HAARP is located in Alaska, far away from any major settlements while the Chinese radar is located almost next to a city – Sanya. And it will cause many troubles for this city, including things disrupting radio signals and even air traffic including many international flights.

Such a big radar is going to be capable of producing extremely low frequency (ELF 3 – 30 Hz) waves and by coincidence, many publications about how to detect underwater objects using ELF have come out. Mostly out of China. And almost nobody talks about this project on science conferences and many details are being kept secret. Thus there is a good chance that while the radar might be producing a bit of research it will be mostly focusing on finding submarines.

I had no idea ground radars could be used to detect submarines.

I guess all nations are the same...
