Yeah, the hydrophobic coating is so cool and yes I have read that the transparent aluminum thing was shown on Star Trek movies though I haven't seen them yet.
Doah, I thought it was the first one, but it was Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home 1986. Watch it sometime, it was good.
