Tiny Tuesday- Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice- The U.S.S. Minnowprize!
Welcome to Tiny Tuesday!
We thought we might have done enough live nature for now and it was time to mix it up! Sure, this is still natural, but they're tasty, too!
We went into the kitchen and took a look around, carefully selecting some things that would look the most interesting under the microscope!
Are you ready?!
Shrink Ray activated!
Instant coffee!
This one is definitely tasty and the only way we get the fuel to create! This brand is Café Bustelo!
Speaking of coffee, you can't have it without sugar!
Bleached granular sugar:
It looks like glass, doesn't it?
Let's get a little closer..
Yeah, it's sweet but appears to be lacking something. I think I know what.
There we go! The beautiful crystalline structures of organic cane sugar! Big difference!
And how could we forget the creamer?
This one just seems otherworldly.
Fun fact: Powdered coffee creamer is extremely flammable! When properly aerated over a flame it will ignite in an impressive display!
Meat rub mixture!
This is used on pork chops, roasts, and something called... "A Boston Butt". I'm afraid to ask. It contains mainly salt, pepper, garlic, and onion. Basically a handy blend of all the usual spices!
Meat tenderizer!
This bottle is just some flavored enzymes! Both papain from Papaya and bromelain from pineapple are usually the active ingredients in these powered bottles. If you want to skip the spices, simply soak the meat in Pineapple juice to break it down and make it super tasty (and tender)!
Dried Parsley!
It's so crispy looking!
Although handy, and really neat looking under the microscope, did you know it is also very easy to grow?
The unsung hero of every dish: Paprika!
Paprika can enhance many flavors and compliments dishes extremely well. It is perfect in soups, on meats, and in rice dishes. Many people don't think to add it, but you should!
This one is regular, I wish we had some smoked to look at as it is considerably darker!
Five spice!
(Which is more than five spices.)
This blend has fennel, peppercorns, sugar, cinnamon, and anise!
For those that like it hot:
Red pepper flakes!
Mmmmm.. the seeds are the best bit!
And you can't forget Sriracha!
Put it on everything. Pour it straight into your mouth!
Thanks for sticking around for another adventure into the Microscopic World!
Until next time..
Keep it tiny!
