What is your Smart ?

I strongly believe that everyone is gifted with a unique talents and through it, their self-confidence boosted and made themselves realize that they are special. But I know for sure that there are people who haven't yet found their talents and because of this, they kept on discovering their hidden talents. God has given us all a gift of talents and skills, so it is not true that you have no talents and skills.

Everyone is gifted with talents that can also be a valuable asset to oneself.

"Each individual has his own unique way of acquiring knowledge about certain things. Most if not all gifted with minds that can process ideas like lightning, people tend to find ways on how to learn things in a way that they are comfortable. Some may have struggles in expressing their ideas in writing but when they sketch they can convey their thoughts accurately. Or maybe a student may have a hard time in learning by listening but when when given pictures they can easily understand."

This is what Samantha shared to her fellow arcelians ( students who were studying in our school are called arcelians ) in our school. She is my schoolmate and my fellow campus journalist. Her words of wisdom really inspired us.

Because of these kinds of experiences, the theory of Multiple of Intelligences reverberates with many educators. Multiple of Intelligences is a theory proposed by Howard Gardner, a professor in Harvard University. He says that there are multiple types of human intelligence, each representing distinct ways of processing information:

Verbal-Linguistic Intelligence

• It is an individuals ability to analyze information and produce work that involves oral written language. They are typically good at reading, writing, telling stories and memorizing words along with dates. Best example are the newscasters and journalists.

Logical-Mathematical Intelligence

• It is an ability to develop equations and proofs, make calculations and solve abstract problems. This area has to do with logic, abstractions, reasoning, numbers and critical thinking. Best examples are the detectives and lawyers.

Visual-Spatial Intelligence

• It is the ability of an individual to comprehend maps and other types of graphical information. This area deals with spatial judgment and the ability to visualize mind's eye. Best examples are painters and Interior designers.

Musical Intelligence

• It is the ability of an individual to produce and make meaning of different types of sound. This has to do with sensitivity of sounds, rhythms, tones and music. People with high musical intelligence normally have good pitch and may even have an absolute pitch, and are able to sing, play musical instruments and compose music. Best examples are the singers and guitarists.

Naturalistic Intelligence

• It is the ability of an individual to identify and distinguish among different types of plants, animals and weather formations found in the natural world. This area has to do with nurturing and relating information to one's natural surroundings. Best examples are farmers, gardeners, veterenarians, and weather forecasters.

Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligence

• It is the ability of an individual to use one's body to create products or solve problems. People who have high bodily-kinesthetic intelligence should be generally good ate physical activities such as: sports, dance, acting and making things. Best examples are dancers, atheletes, builders and soldiers.

Interpersonal Intelligence

• It is the ability of an individual to recognise and understand other peoples moods, desires, motivations, and intentions. People with high interpersonal intelligence maybe either leaders or followers and often enjoy discussion and debate. Best examples are politicians, managers, teachers, lecturers, counselors and social workers.

Intrapersonal Intelligence

• It is the ability of an individual to recognise and access those same characteristics within themselves. This refers to having deep understanding of self; what one's strength or weaknesses are, what makes one unique, being able to predict one's own reactions or emotions.

Based on the Multiple Intelligences, I learned that I am gifted with Logical- Mathematical Intelligence because I am good in reasoning and critical thinking.
