You want to help science? Play a video game. Part 3.
You finish the adventure games 100%? Do you like puzzles? Why not use those skills to help in the advancement of science? It is not necessary to know mathematics or biology to play, in fact you will learn more by playing.
This is possible nowadays, videogames have gone from being a mere entertainment of a few to mass in society, and scientists have found a way to solve great enigmas and help their investigations using the creative minds of millions of players in all the world. I present two new games they will be fun and help in interesting research: Eyewire and Citizen Sort.
Eyewire
In this interesting 3D puzzle, we will help in the mapping of the human brain, its works very much like FoldIt, you just have to color the pieces (neurons) of a cube following a pattern, an easy concept to understand and in which can participate even children. The final result is the volumetric reconstruction of complete neurons.
The videogame has been created by the Computational Neuroscience Laboratory of MIT, the brain mapped is from Sebastian Seung, director of the laboratory. When the work is complete (and there are many neurons to be mapped) the result will be the mapping of Seung's brain more accurate as possible.

Citizen Sort
Project of Syracuse University (New York, United States), is a collection of three different adventure games in which we will become an explorer.
Inside the games a story will be followed (For example, in The Forgotten Island, you will investigate the destruction of a biology laboratory, you will find robots and solve riddles to solve the enigma), using real photos of fauna and flora, the players must classify them according to the Color, size and other features to earn points and unlock new levels.
The results of the games allow researchers to reduce the time of analysis of new species. This project has the endorsement of the United Nations Program for the Environment (UNEP).
