Interesting. As I understand it, the main objection to the Penrose-Hameroff theory of consciousness as a quantum property has been that the brain is two warm and wet to maintain quantum cohesion. I wonder if this breakthrough in mechanical qubits - which are less vulnerable to environmental interference - suggests a way to overcome that objection through the possible existence of biological mechanical qubits.
