WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD?

Here I am in the 21st century. a world which revolves faster than my imagination, a world travelling well and fast, faster than I think I know. The world of science and technology has seen a lot of discoveries, innovations, inventions and changes before our eyes. Discoveries are made everyday, a lot more in a week and a month. Surely, this is truly a computer age. After seeing how far science and technology have come, how much they've achieved in a little, I ask myself what does the future hold for science and tech?

Looking at the rate at which inventions, discoveries and innovations are made, it forces me to think about the 22nd century, though I might not be alive to have a glimpse of how the world would be then. I was thinking about how discoveries were slow in time past and how fast they are now. Because the slow level of discoveries in time past has given us the opportunity to make discoveries of our own to better our own world. So, what happens if we keep exploring too fast? Will we finish discovering everything that could be discovered? Then, a thought struck my mind, I thought of contacting google. See what I found from Kevin Kelly (the founding writer and editor wired magazine):

Science will continue to surprise us with discoveries and inventions. He also stated that "the achievement of science is to know new things; and the evolution of science is to know new things in new ways." He drew conclusion to the future of science and technology for the next century in 5 sentences:

1.The change that will occur in the next 50 years of science will be more than the past 400years.

2.The 22nd century will be a century of biology because it is the domain with most scientists, most new results, most economical value and importance.

3.Computers will keep being pathfinders as they'll keep leading to new ways of science.

4.Wikiscience, a new way of learning will emerge leading to long lasting refined papers with a thousand authors.

5.Science will create new levels of meaning. The Internet already is made of one quintillion transistors, a trillion links, a million emails per second, 20 exabytes of memory. It is approaching the level of the human brain and is doubling every year, while the brain is not. It is all becoming effectively one machine. And we are the machine.

Here in this 21st century the world of science and technology has seen alot of breakthroughs, inventions and discoveries.

Wonderful and Important Scientific Discoveries Or Inventions of the 21st Century

The Electronic Nose
Credit
The electronic Nose is a device made to detect odors or flavors. Although the works of the electronic nose started as far back as 1982, but the major developments are happening now there's still ongoing progress on it. This invention analyses the odor it perceives. It was made so as to mimic the human olfactory lobes that function as a non-seperative mechanism. The Blockchain
Credit
This has been a great success in the 21st century. The blockchain as defined by @tojukaka at the S.I.N conference in the simplest possible language is the connection of a chain to the other and to the other till infinity. It is an open and transparent network through which funds could be transferred at no cost and will be visible to every member of the blockchain. But according to Wikipedia Blockchain is a continuously growing list containing records, usually called blocks (as in blockchain) which are linked by cryptography. Cryptography is also used to secure the blockchain. A blockchain is considered as a decentralized and distributed ledger that is very useful in recording transactions. This transactions are recorded on many computers which is the reason a record can not be altered without subsequent blocks and a secret agreement for the illegal purpose on the blockchain network.

Sophia, The humanoid Robot

Sophia is one of the greatest successes the 21st century has seen. Sophia is a robot but in form of a human with scripted responses. Sophia was created by an Hong Kong based company Hanson Robotics owned by David Hanson. Sophia has the capability to give scripted responses to certain questions. Recently, Sophia broke the record of being the first robot to gain citizenship in Saudi Arabia and literally the whole world. For more info Check Samminator's blog or Wikipedia

A picture of what cloning does
Credit
According to Wikipedia, Human cloning refers to the creation of a perfect identical copy of a human. The clone has exactly both physical and genetical characters of the human. It is mostly done to replace the faulty cells and tissues. Please note that cloning does not undergo the natural process of human creation(conception and delivery), it is an artificial process. Gravitational Waves

This is regarded as the greatest scientific discovery of the 21st century as it may have the key to time travel. Although not going back in time physically but scientists will be able to see things that happened a long way back. This was confirmed in a post made by Mark Zuckerberg on Thursday, February 11th 2016. He called it the greatest discovery of modern science. The analysis of his post made it known that we could now open new views of the cosmos. By new views of the cosmos he meant that we could now shed lights on the earliest moments of the universe, which includes the creation.

Surely, science makes the world go round.

Thank you for your time!!

I also think that the progress of technology and science is a giant step, But the effects will only affect a part of humanity While the majority of humans will be under the influence of obscurantism and underdevelopment

The DISASTER is if the majority dominate .

Science is good but most scientists are getting it wrong. Do u think this idea of cloning human being is good

No, it's not...But of course, it's a good discovery and I mentioned that most people do it to correct faulty tissues

The world of science and tech is really evolving rapidly. The feats we've actually seen in tech world is nothing compared to what's coming. We should just brace up for impact

Exactly, we have to brace up

In as much as I embrace the spate of technological advancements in the world, I would also wish to establish my fears for humanity and it's threat to ecosystem in general.
