We all know what light is but if we go a little bit dipper then a simple form of energy will open up the vast and vast boundaries of science. From the mysteries of time travel to the gravitational waves light plays a significance role. Light is what is making the world brighter and what we know about light is very little.
Lets discuss where does the light comes from? Your lamp is so complicated but I will try to explain in a simple way. Light basically comes as a form of energy liberated by an atom. When an electron jumps from an orbit to another orbit then it releases radiation what we know as light. The radiation is only visible if it has a distinct length of its wave know (wavelength).
Light travels as a particle and wave which is a key concept for quantum physics which I am not going in detail about here. The length between 2 crest of the light wave is known as wave length.
How can we miss one thing when we are talking about light, I know you guessed it, it is it's speed ! It's speed is three times ten to the power eight meter per second. If you want to be a little bit clear then it's speed so so much high that it can circle the globe 7 times in a second ! And another very important fact about the speed of light is that it is constant. This opens a major door for time travel.
The concept is that if a body travels at the speed of light then time will stop for it. It is because speed of light is constant and if something tends to go beyond the lights speed then time stops for them to make the speed constant. If you just go and stare at a night sky then you will see many stars and out of which many of them are already dead and we can see them because of the light they left out when they were alive millions of years ago and it took time to reach earth. It's a little bit of coincidence but a light ray traveled such a long distance taking such a long time just to strike your eye and vanish. And we may not even see a star which is very near to us because it just formed and it's light will take another 10 years to reach us.

The leaf you are looking around is not green and it is everything except green, because it absorbs every color except green. That's why black color are the hottest because it absorbs all the light falling in it.
