NASA announces a major 'discovery beyond our solar system'

in #science8 years ago (edited)

" If life exists beyond Earth, it likely exists on an exoplanet. These planets orbiting stars outside our solar system have fascinated astronomers for decades. The first was detected in 1988. Over 3,500 have been confirmed since then."

"Now, NASA has an update. The agency said yesterday it will host a news conference on Wednesday to discuss recent discoveries of planets beyond our solar system. The findings, to appear in the journal Nature, will be presented at 1 p.m. ET as the event kicks off live on NASA Television."

"Five scientists will participate in the conference. The media and public alike are invited to ask questions via Twitter by using the hashtag #askNASA. The agency will also hold a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) at 3 p.m. to discuss exoplanets and the new findings"

=================================================

We have heard about exoplanets before - Apparently this will be new data and information.

Supposedly this increases the likelihood of ET, alien life, Human style existing in the solar system - Many scientists have postulated that given the vastness of the universe it is likely that there is other life 'out there'

But until proven, until actual visual and observable contact is made - Proof is still lacking.

Fascinating as it might be to find other and/or Human like life forms, it is still a dangerous proposition.
Other life forms in the universe may not be friendly - And if advanced, as observable UFO flying patterns demonstrate,
may pose a threat to Human existence.

Also consider another scary thought - What if after all, Man is alone in the Universe, a unique anomaly in an otherwise
lifeless Cosmos?

Personally i go with the 'life is likely scenario' - And philosophically believe in the concept that consciousness is intrinsic
to all that exists - even what is not biological.

Tune in to the NASA News Conference and come back and tell us what your take is on what they unveil.

I'm so excited about this discovery. Amazing!

Here is the latest from the news conference:

And I quote:
"At a NASA press conference on Wednesday afternoon, the space agency announced that astronomers have discovered an amazing seven Earth-like planets orbiting a nearby star.*

The bountiful find constitutes the highest number of such worlds to be seen circling the same celestial center aside from our own solar system, of course.

All of the planets were described as being temperate and, thus, potentially possessing water.

Additionally, three of the seven worlds appear to sit in the vaunted 'Goldilocks zone' where it is believed that conditions are ideal for life to exist........"

This increases the odds that, yes, there is life 'out-there", and that it my be both biological and Humanoid.
