RE: Entomologist Discovers "Millipede with Most Color Combinations", Teenager Escapes Death By A Hair's Breadth & This is How A Crow's Ear Looks Like

in #science7 years ago

The question as to whether or not crows had ear never entered my thought process before. I mean, they make their cry so much, one would assume they hear too.

But what has entered my thinking many times is how damn smart they are.

Sort:

don't start me on crows. I fucking love them!

They can talk...

Pass intelligence tests...

Do tasks to solve problems..

And use tools...

And personally I think they are very beautiful! I would love to have a couple for pets <3

Yes, all that, plus if you get in a fight with them - they will win!

Hahaha maybe thats why some believe that a crow is an omen of bad luck XD

You're right about their beauty. Hollywood stereotypes about witches, black cats and evil crows be damned! Thanks for these fascinating videos!

Several years ago, I read a book written by a guy who adopted some ravens (closely related to crows) so as to be able to observe them more closely day to day:

His findings were fascinating.

One detail I remember was how some crows would trick the others by hiding food in a corner, then moving it when they weren't watching so that the food wouldn't be stolen: acute awareness of what others are thinking!

That seems like an interesting book! I will add it to my to-do list :D
