Mars, Mars, Mars. All the Way to the Stars!

in #science5 years ago

When I posted about the Trappist 1 system, I was not really thinking about how to actually go beyond our solar system, colonize the planets and become an intergalactic spacefaring civilization. I was just in awe about the possibility of humans reaching the possibly millions of similarly outstanding planets in the distant future. But now that I thought about it, can we actually go there?

Preparing for Mars

It has been a 115 years since the Wright brothers successfully flown the first powered airplane. With the invention of the airplane, humans are able to traverse longer distance in a shorter time.

Naturally, humans want to explore, spread and dominate what's beyond the horizon and that would only mean going to Mars.

This is the Mars-colonizing starship prototype that the company SpaceX is currently developing with the ambitious purpose of getting humans to Mars and set up the first stations that would ultimately lead to a planet-wide colonization.

Your thoughts?
Do you think this effort would eventually lead to the colonization of the worlds or it's just way too ambitious to pursue?
