Teleportation Is Now A Reality
Remember the scenes from movies like Jumper or The matrix in which a person is teleported from one place to another. We usually categorize such movies as Science Fiction. Well, scientists are now set to transform fictions into reality.
Teleportation in its literary concept means move somewhere without traveling ;that is ,in science fiction and fantasy, to move instantly from one place to another by some paranormal or magical means.
According to Time.com, 'Chinese scientists have successfully teleported an object to space for the first time, paving the way for more ambitious and futuristic breakthroughs.' they used Quantum Entanglement to beam object to Space.
Before talking about recent revolution in Science let's first understand What Quantum Entanglement is. Quantum is the smallest discrete quantity of a physical property, for example, electromagnetic radiation or angular momentum whereas Entanglement means to make something become twisted up in a mass of strands, for example, netting or hair. So, a physical phenomenon that occurs when pairs or groups of particles are generated or interact in ways such that the quantum state of each particle are not mutually exclusive that is each particle cannot be described independently of the others, of the others,—instead, a quantum state must be described for the system as a whole.
Coming back to the recent development in the world of Astronomy. A team of researchers in China has successfully sent a photon to an orbiting satellite more than 300 miles above. Till now, it’s the farthest distance experimented so far in teleportation experiments, the researchers said.
According to MIT Technology Review, “This work establishes the first ground-to-satellite up-link for faithful and ultra-long-distance quantum teleportation, an essential step toward global-scale quantum Internet,”
In future, Quantum teleportation could be used to develop a new form of communication network, which would be based on quantum states of entangled photons encoding rather than strings of 0s and 1s. This will improve security and it would be impossible for hackers to measure the photons’ states without disturbing them and revealing their presence. Besides, Quantum teleportation wouldn't be limited to photons but it will be taken to the next level of and will be applied to heavy particles.
Very interesting and thought provoking article. Quantum Teleportation is a real thing and has had some success indeed with practical application. The only thing in breaking down living matter and dna to rematerialize is not on the scale of humans or other species to the best of my knowledge.
