The mysterious geometry of plants and flowers!steemCreated with Sketch.

If we look around, we shall find that there are patterns of flowers, branches, leaves in each plant. The points at which every branch, leaf, stem and petals emerge are fixed according to certain laws and precise measures. The most persistent pattern is Fibonacci sequence.

This sequence was discovered by Indian mathematicians hundreds of years ago. It was later named after Italian mathematician Leonardo of Pisa, who was known as Fibonacci. In Fibonacci sequence, each number is created by adding together the previous two numbers.

This number continues to infinity and is almost mysterious. It is very persistent in nature and ever plant conforms to it. For example the leaves are placed along a stem by the Fibonacci sequence, which ensures that each leaf has access to maximum sunlight and rain.

All plants are geometrically sequenced. There are some plants whose geometry is more distinct. Some famous examples are below:

Romanesco Broccoli:

It is also known as Roman cauliflower.it color is light green and its texture is crispy as compared to normal cauliflower. Its taste is creamy and nutty and it is prepared like traditional cauliflower. The fascinating part is its appearance. Its spiral buds form natural approximation of a fractal. Each bud is made up of series of smaller buds.

Aloe polyphylla:

It grows in high mountainous slopes in Lesotha near South Africa. It is rare beauty and grows to three feet having many overlapping leaves that are spiral either clockwise or anti-clockwise. However it is an endangered species and therefore buying or collecting this plant is criminal offensive in South Africa.

There are around 42 species of this common garden flower. The flowers are small having 2 inches to one feet diameter. It grows as full mature bush in just single season, opening their brilliant booms. It has variety of sizes, unexpected flower shapes and unique colors.

Pelecyphora aselliformis:

It is only found in Mexico and is relatively rare and slow growing. The flowers have brilliant violet color. It is best known for its medicinal properties as psychoactive.
