China's Spaceship Tiangong-1 is falling down to Earth this March!

China has lost control of its spaceship i.e. Tiangong-1 and it is falling down the earth.

Tiangong-1, which is also called "Heavenly Place" was launched in 2011 and was China's first massive space station having total weight of 19,000 pounds. Its lifespan was 02 years till 2013 but China decided to extend its lifespan.

In 2016, China National Space Administration(CNSA) confirmed that they had lost control and contact of this space station. Its orbit is gradually degrading with time and it will ultimately make an uncontrolled re-entry back to earth late March. The scientists also don't know where it will fall on earth.

It is not the first time happening. Satellites and spacecraft are falling to earth since many times. These satellites are got hit by small particles and they push them downwards. Most of the particles are so small that they burn in the atmosphere due to friction.

But as Tiangong-1 was very massive, it may not completely burn in atmosphere rather 10 to 40 percent of its remains will fall back to earth and these particles will spread to miles.

"The date, time and geographic footprint of the reentry can only be predicted with large uncertainties. Even shortly before reentry, only a very large time and geographical window can be estimated.
Holger Krag- head of ESA's Space Debris Office

Experts say that there are good chances that it may fall into ocean or in underpopulated areas of the earth and therefore chances of any disaster are very low.

@munavar1235 - Damn - this is another unpredictable re-entry of a failed space object. I remember, during my college days when the NASA Spacelab plummeted to earth. Everyone was afraid where it will land for over 2 days. This case will be like that too. With 70% of earth surface covered with water, it is more likely it will end up in sea but of course, there is no guarantee of that. Hope it does not cause major disaster
