Beaches in Australia are emitting blue light and it is weird
In below picture you can see that the water near the beach seems to emit sparkling blue light. It is caused due to an algae.

This algae is known as sea sparkle, has pleased residents and tourists at Tasmania's Preservation Bay. This sparkle is seen in still waters. It has become the place of attraction for photographers.

It is produced by billions of single-celled algae called 'Noctiluca scintillans'. This sparkle is a defense mechanism positioned to fright sea creatures which may swallow them down.
The natural phenomenon happens when the tiny organisms discharge light as a defense mechanism, according to an expert. It is typically seen in calm waters.
Although not toxic, the algae can cause skin irritations in some people. If present in large quantities, it can also disturb the food chain of other marine species, like shellfish.
According to experts, the ocean currents and the warming of the oceans may have contributed to the spread of current bio luminescence.
It was shifting southwards in 2000s. But it seems to have found permanent stay in Tasmania. It has prolonged quickly in last 20 years.
This really an amazing sight... Sparkling algae certainly does not ring a bell, so it's nice...

That is stunning. Such a beautiful thing for the potential damage. Is it only in Tassie?
