Another Units Of Engine Power
Some automotive logos that use horses as a symbol. This horse symbolizes strength and good performance. [1] [2]
On the front of a truck, we often see 120 PS and 220 PS. What does this number mean? whether 120 Power Steering or 220 Power Steering? certainly not. In the previous post, I have discussed Why The Power Units Of Engine Is Horsepower. Is it only horsepower that is used in the unit of power generated by the machine? certainly not. Let's look at the following reviews.
220 PS which is listed on the front of a truck shows trucks have engine power of 220 PS. [3]
A 220 PS figure as shown in Figure 1, shows the machine power in different units. In the conversion table 1 PS = 0.98 HP. 220 PS = 220 x 0.98 = 215.6 HP which means the power generated by the machine shows the equivalent of a powered 215.6 HP engine. Why there is another unit other than horsepower ?
Actually this depends on the standard being the reference where the machine is designed and manufactured. This standard is made to show the designer and the manufacturer's own reference. So used a different unit in indicating the power of the machine.
This truck engine has a power of 125 PS which is listed on the front of the truck. [4]
Actually, there are many units of power machines other than horsepower and PS. The number of units is caused by the many standards used in the world of engineering. Whatever the unit, keep showing the same thing. So do not be confused to see so many units for just one purpose.
