On July 23, at the age of 88, Steven Weinberg, a theoretical physicist born in New York in 1933, who was awarded the 1979 Nobel Prize together with fellow physicists Abdus Salam and Sheldon Lee Glashow, passed away for uniting two of the forces of nature, electromagnetism and the weak force in the electro-weak model.

El pasado 23 de julio, a la edad de 88 años, falleció Steven Weinberg, físico teórico nacido en Nueva York en 1933 que fue galardonado con el premio Nobel de 1979 junto con los también físicos Abdus Salam y Sheldon Lee Glashow por conseguir unificar dos de la fuerzas de la naturaleza, el electro-magnetismo y la fuerza débil en el modelo electro-débil.

Steven was the son of Jewish immigrants, and according to his account, his passion for science was sparked by a chemistry game given to him as a child, he attended Bronx High School of Science and graduated from Cornell University in 1954, after graduation. he married Louise Goldwasser, who was a law professor.

Steven era hijo de inmigrantes judíos y según cuenta su pasión por la ciencia la despertó un juego de química que le regalaron en la infancia, asistió a la escuela secundaria de ciencias del Bronx y se licenció en la Universidad de Cornell en 1954, una vez licenciado se casó con Louise Goldwasser quien ejercía de profesora de derecho.

After spending a season at the Institute of Theoretical Physics in Copenhagen, he returned to the United States and obtained his PhD from Princeton University in 1957, he worked as a post-graduate researcher at Columbia and Berkeley universities where he studied a wide variety of subjects in the field of theoretical physics.

His work formed the basis of what would later become the standard model of particle physics that describes all the fundamental particles and forces of nature, he is also the author of several works on quantum field theory, gravity, superstrings and cosmology among other disciplines.

What bothers me the most is having found out 2 weeks after his death, surely if it would be a minstrel, sportsman or any other boy from the zoo's TV, all media from public to private, archaic or avant-garde, local or international would have spoke about but, who the hell knows Steven Weinberg?

Lo que mas me fastidia de todo es haberme enterado 2 semanas después de su fallecimiento, seguramente si se tratase de algún juglar, estrella del deporte o cualquier@ pela mangos del zoo televisivo habitual habrían ardido los medios públicos y privados, arcaicos y vanguardistas, locales o internacionales pero, ¿quien coño conoce a Steven Weinberg?.
