The International Space Station (ISS) will come to an end in 2031, after more than three decades orbiting the Earth. During these years, thousands of experiments have been carried out in a wide range of fields such as physics, biology, medicine and materials technology that have provided new insights into the effects of microgravity on the human body and the development of new technologies.

La Estación Espacial Internacional (ISS) llegará a su fin en el año 2031, después de más de tres décadas orbitando la Tierra, durante estos años se han llevado a cabo miles de experimentos en una amplia gama de campos como la física, la biología, la medicina y la tecnología de materiales que han proporcionado nuevos conocimientos sobre los efectos de la microgravedad en el cuerpo humano y el desarrollo de nuevas tecnologías.

But the space station is a very complex and expensive structure to maintain, in operation since 1998 over time, the costs of repair and updating have become increasingly higher, to the point that its controlled destruction must now be considered starting in 2028, once the last experiments had been completed.

That is why NASA has selected SpaceX, Elon Musk's company, to develop the spacecraft that will deorbit the International Space Station (ISS) at the end of its useful life, I suppose because SpaceX has proven to be the only company capable of designing and build reusable spacecraft safely and efficiently, especially after the Starliner fiasco.

Por eso la NASA ha seleccionado a SpaceX, la empresa de Elon Musk, para desarrollar la nave espacial que desorbitará la Estación Espacial Internacional (ISS) al final de su vida útil, supongo que porque SpaceX ha demostrado ser la única empresa capaz de diseñar y construir naves espaciales reutilizables de forma segura y eficiente, sobre todo después del fiasco de la Starliner.

The SpaceX ship, called the United States Deorbitation Vehicle (USDV), will dock with the ISS and use its thrusters to gradually lower it from orbit, to an altitude of about 320 kilometers above Earth, where friction with the Earth's atmosphere will make it to disintegrate and the surviving remains will fall into a remote and uninhabited area of ​​the Pacific Ocean.

La nave de SpaceX, llamada Vehículo de Desorbitación de los Estados Unidos (USDV), se acoplará a la ISS y utilizará sus propulsores para bajarla gradualmente de órbita, hasta una altitud de unos 320 kilómetros sobre la Tierra, donde la fricción con la atmósfera terrestre la hará desintegrarse y los restos que sobrevivan caerán en una zona remota y deshabitada del Océano Pacífico.

For this feat, SpaceX has received an award contract for an amount of nearly 900 million dollars. Once the device is completed, the Agency will be responsible for operating it so that it fulfills its mission and subsequently the deorbitation vehicle and the space station will pass through the atmosphere and disintegrate together.

In the last two decades, more than 250 astronauts from 20 countries have inhabited it, taking part in more than 3,300 research projects, so it can be said that it has been amortized. Now there are several public and private projects to replace the ISS to continue the research and start setting up leisure areas.

En las últimas dos décadas más de 250 astronautas de 20 países la han habitado, formantdo parte de más de 3300 proyectos de investigación por lo que se puede decir que ha sido amortizada, ahora existen varios proyectos tanto públicos como privados para sustituir a la ISS para seguir las investigaciones y empezar a montar zonas de ocio.
