In August 2021 Elon Musk presented for the first time the concept of Optimus, the first humanoid robot created by Tesla, although this was clearly a fake and the disguise was noticeable, just two years later we can already see Optimus walking through the plant and doing the work that until now humans did.

En agosto de 2021 Elon Musk presentó por primera vez el concepto de Optimus, el primer robot humanoide creado por Tesla, aunque este era claramente un fake y se le notaba el disfraz, apenas dos años después ya podemos vera a Optimus caminando por la planta y realizando el trabajo que hasta ahora hacían los humanos.

It is, as I say, a humanoid robot 1.73 m tall and weighing 57 kg, which can lift 68 kg and carry up to 20 kg, as well as hold and manipulate delicate objects without breaking them, all at a speed maximum of 8 km/h so that we can run away if things go wrong, as Musk says.

Se trata, como digo, de un robot humanoide de 1,73 m de altura y un peso de 57 kg, que puede levantar 68 kg y transportar hasta 20 kg, además de sostener y manipular objetos delicados sin romperlos, todo ello a una velocidad máxima de 8 km/h para que podamos escapar corriendo si las cosas se tuercen, como dice Musk.

If we compare the videos of Boston Dynamic and its robots that run and do stunts in the purest parkour style, Optimus seems a bit orthopedic but it turns out that the movements of these robots have been previously programmed and rehearsed, while Optimus moves in a totally autonomous way without the need to program it previously.

Si comparamos los vídeos de Boston Dynamic y sus robots que dan saltos y hacen cabriolas al más puro estilo parkour, Optimus parece un poco ortopédico pero es que resulta que los movimiento de estos robots han sido previamente programados y ensayados mientras que Optimus se mueve de forma totalmente autónoma sin necesidad de programarlo previamente.

This is because the robot, in addition to cameras and sensors, has the same artificial intelligence as the Tesla vehicle autopilot but adapted to the movements of a humanoid, something like a car with legs, which allows it to recognize and memorize environment, making it easier for it to perform increasingly complex and sensitive tasks in production environments.

Esto se debe a que el robot, además de cámaras y sensores, lleva la misma inteligencia artificial que el autopilot de los vehículos de Tesla pero adaptado a los movimientos de un humanoide, algo así como un coche con patas, que le permite reconocer y memorizar el entorno lo que le facilita la realización de tareas cada vez más complejas y delicadas en entornos de producción.

In his day Elon Musk had announced that the cost of this robot could be around 20,000 dollars, something tremendously cheap if we compare it with the cost of a human operator, especially if we take into account that Optimus does not need to rest, eat, shit or stop to smoke a cigarette, which leaves us humans in a very bad position.

En su día Elon Musk había anunciado que el coste de este robot podría ser de unos 20.000 dólares, algo tremendamente barato si lo comparamos con el coste de un operario humano, sobre todo si tenemos en cuenta que Optimus no necesita descansar, ni comer, ni cagar, ni parar para fumar un cigarro, lo que nos deja en muy mala posición a los humanos.

It is true that there is still a lot to work on and invest in and that it will still be a few years before we see these humanoid robots in the factories, which I suppose will also have to be adapted for them, but we cannot sleep because it is clear that before a decade we will stop being profitable as workers.
