Tea is one of the most popular drinks in the world. And it is personal: each has its vision on how to make the perfect cup of tea. But what science says about it?
The consumption of tea is associated with numerous health benefits, although this is not the only reason to drink it.
It is believed that improve mood and cognitive ability, reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases and diabetes.
Tea is a source of micronutrients, including fluoride, magnesium and zinc. Nevertheless, the main health benefits of tea are associated with three major bioactive compounds: catechin, caffeine and L-theanine. Bioactive compounds are non-essential nutrients that have a strong influence on human health.
Catechins have antioxidant properties and prevent damage to the cells.
Caffeine makes you feel fresh and alert, but L-theanine is thought to be responsible for the relaxing properties of tea.
More antioxidants and less caffeine makes green tea a ny best possible choices in this drink.
