I was infected by one of those little beast. It was a problem for quite a few years. I had the condition before anyone had identified the cause. Only some beef would trigger it and the resulting hives always varied in severity. A burger from Applebees resulted in such a bad reaction that I had trouble breathing. I think my body has finally cleared the infection and I haven't broken out from any beef in close to a year. It may vary a lot by the person but I don't think this is a lifetime problem.
