Great post! In fact ignorance has been a larger murderer through out history.
Another Salem intersting theory is what Arthur Miller wrote on his theater play "The Crucible" where not only the people's ignorance punished the lives of those girls, but also a character called Abigail, manipulates the situation to incriminate the wife of the man she loved, so probably superstion, ignorance and evil, are to blame for the Salem's tragedy.
