I am always introducing a theory to my students as: a theory is a mathematical structure precisely explaining the ensemble of all experimental facts of a given domain. It can be used to make predictions and is thus testable. This is actually what I wrote in my first quantum mechanics post on steemit that I wrote 10 months ago.
