What is the "MULTIVERSE"? Is it real?

in #science5 years ago (edited)

All of us are familiar with the term "Universe". We are inside one.
Some of you may have heard of or even know about the "Multiverse". For those who don’t know, What exactly is the Multiverse? Well, it’s a region where multiple universes are floating together in the emptiness of space.
Picture it like a group of soap bubbles floating in your bathtub.

Scientists are not sure about their existence. We have only measured a small part of our universe called the observable universe which is approximately 46.508 billion light-years wide, and we don’t know what’s beyond that.
We have a giant book of unanswered questions relating to this.

Here are a few of them:

"How big is our Universe?"

"Is our universe finite or infinite?"

"Where does it come from?"

"If there is a limit to the universe what does it exist within and what’s beyond that?"

"If the galaxies are receding away from us, then where are they going?"

We’re not sure. Then how does this multiverse theory came to existence when we don’t even know the answers to these questions.

Well, this theory is a hypothesis devised to express the possibility of many worlds like ours. Although it first appeared in science fiction novels, many modern physicists like Brian Greene and Michio Kaku believe that this might be true.

Einstein said that our universe is like an inflating soap bubble with insects trapped in it. When the bubble expands, the trapped insects will move away from each other. This resembles the condition of our expanding universe.

String theory suggests that there are multiple bubbles coexists with our own which we can collectively call as “The Multiverse”.

Another reason to believe is the possibility of Parallel Universes.

A Parallel Universe is an alternate universe that coexists with our own like a stack of sheets, each having its own unique sets of laws.

Ever experienced Deja Vu? Nobody knows the exact cause of this. But many people claim that it is the vision of you from an alternate universe. Some say that our dreams may simply be the visions of alternate realities.

So, what do you think of this? Do you believe in the possibility of many worlds?

Well, it's still a possibility but we don't have a way to measure it (at least with today's science,) so I'll leave its usage for Science Fiction for now.

Exactly! We don't have a way to measure the whole universe mainly because the speed of light is fixed.
