THE CONCEPT OF OXYGEN {O2}

Oxygen is a colorless, odorless gas. It is a chemical element and it's on the periodic table with the atomic number 8. Oxygen is the third most plentiful element in the world and makes up over 20% of the earth’s atmosphere. In the human system,oxygen is the single most abundant element, making up 65% of body mass. We breathe oxygen every second of the day and it’s clearly very important. So, let’s see few ways in which the human body uses oxygen.
Oxygen shows mainly as an element in the atmosphere. It makes up 20.948 percent of the atmosphere. It also occurs in water bodies such as oceans, lakes, rivers, and ice caps in the form of water. Nearly 89 percent of the weight of water is oxygen. Oxygen is also in the Earth's crust as the most plentiful element as 45 percent which makes twice the second element 'silicon'

Oxygen is present in all kinds of minerals. Some common examples include the carbonates, nitrates,oxides and phosphates. Oxides are chemical compounds that has oxygen and one other element, lime or quicklime (CaO), is an example. Carbonates are compounds that contain oxygen, carbon, and at least one other element. Nitrates and phosphates also contain oxygen and other elements. The other elements are sulfur ,nitrogen, or phosphorus. Examples are potassium nitrate, or saltpeter (KNO ) Epsom salts (MgSO ); and calcium phosphate (Ca PO )

The Benefits of Oxygen
Health status,hydration, and activity level are factors that affect how much oxygen a person needs. Without proper oxygen, health problems come to play.

Consequences of Oxygen Deprivation
Oxygen deprivation doesn’t have to be sudden, like drowning or choking, to be a problem. Oxygen deprivation can be of long term problem,showcasing over months or years. The reasons varies, but pollution and poor ventilation are among them. The health outcome of oxygen deprivation can be severe; and also leads to tumor growth. Environmental scenarios are integrating the problem and oxygen rate in the atmosphere are on the decline.
