Wolf group Wolves cooperate with each other better than dogs.

It is believed that when domestication, people always chose animals with which it is easier to communicate, with more developed social skills. For example, an ancient hunter from two puppies chose one that would not just be good at looking for prey - the dog should have understood the owner well. In this connection, it is usually said that domestic animals, unlike wild "analogues", are more socialized, and wild ones - for example, some wolves - on the contrary, are more of a loner, even if from time to time they come together in packs.

However, if we analyze more deeply the behavior of the same dogs and wolves, we find that in the sense of social life, wolves in some dogs excel. Dogs have a much worse understanding with each other, and flocks of mongrels should not lead us astray: they can not master complex joint behavior. An additional confirmation of this is the experiments of researchers from the University of Vienna with wolves and dogs, who were kept in a special research center in Ernstbrunn. Those and others lived in semi-wild conditions, that is, they were provided with medical assistance, if necessary, taught to some teams, but in general they did not communicate very closely with people.

The wolves and dogs were forced to pass a fairly simple test for cooperative behavior: food was put on a tray and it was necessary to pull two ropes to get it, and it was necessary to pull simultaneously - that is, it was necessary to negotiate with a partner. In the article in PNAS authors write that wolves more often than dogs acted together - that is, they took ropes together and pulled to get food. Both with dogs and wolves have done more than four hundred tests, and the wolves joined forces in a hundred cases, the dogs - in only two.

It is known that dogs, if given one meal for two, prefer to wait their turn to not get involved in the conflict. Wolves in the same situation rarely wait for another to eat, however, despite finding out the relationship, wolves often eat together. That is, their willingness to discuss at the same time means that the problem can be solved - the dogs prefer to pretend that there is no problem. Therefore, when it is necessary to work out some joint tactic, it is easier for wolves.

However, do not say that dogs with social skills are worse than wolves, just in the process of domestication, the dogs turned their ability to communicate with people
