Anthony Levandowski, who is in the center of the legal battle between Uber and Google's Waymo, established a non-profit religious organization called "Way of the Future", according to Wired.com. The mission of the new church is: "Development and promotion of the realization of the Divine, based on artificial intelligence, as well as the comprehension and worship of this God, which contributes to the improvement of society."

Lewandowski was one of the founders of the autonomous carrier company Otto, which Uber bought in 2016. In May, he was fired from Uber amid allegations that he had stolen secret information about cooperation with Google to develop an autopilot technology for Otto. His religious project was first registered in 2015. Now the team working on the creation of "God out of the car" refuses to comment on the AI's alleged behavior, but world history has repeatedly proven that any major scientific and technological discoveries lead both to the overthrow of old idols and stereotypes, and to the formation of new ones.

According to the ideals of the movement of transhumanism, a person should maximize the potential of his body, mind and spirit with the help of a complex incorporating the latest achievements in the field of science, technology and the latest spiritual practices - to which many modern Catholic organizations look obliquely and even with open censure.

Silicon Valley is committed to the synthesis of religion and technology with all its might. Scientists have developed a complex of quasi-religious concepts, including the "singularity", the hypothesis that at some point the machines will grow to such an extent that they excel man not only physiologically, but also in terms of reasonable thinking. This, in turn, will lead to the creation of superhuman intelligence, so complex that our tiny "meat" brains will eventually not be able to comprehend it. " Jokes are jokes, but in these words there is a fair amount of truth.

The level of progress, within which projects like "divine AI" and bioengineering are possible, will always raise aesthetic and moral dilemmas. All of them, by and large, are trying to answer two main questions: where does the boundary between man and superman go (what would this not mean) and what will happen when the machine intellect exceeds the human? What will happen to the world when this happens? Will social inequality disappear, will the laws of robotics be applied to Azimov, and, most importantly, will AI be able to answer questions that modern religion can not answer?
