The Indians found in the woods the sorting hat

Indian arachnologists has found a spider similar to a hat, in the South-West of India. New species was given the name Eriovixia gryffindori in honor of the sorting hat belonged to Godric Gryffindor house, the character of a series of books by JK Rowling about Harry Potter.

According to scientists, perpetuating a Hat in the name of the spider, they tried to draw attention to the "charming but neglected by the world of invertebrates and their secret life".

The spider belongs to the genus Eriovixia, the representatives of which, according to scientists, possess the ability to pretend dry leaves. In this they are similar to spiders of another kind of the same family of Orb-web spiders, which appearance similar to the leaves not only color and shape, and "veins".

New species described in the journal Indian Journal of Arachnology.
