I studied metallurgical emgineering for my undergraduate degree and steel and iron carbon charts were a commom theme during the 5 years of study. I have only seen steel being made in labs or steel plants but never seen it made like this, in an old school way. Great stuff and very solid details. Steel is just such an important material and material science such an interesting topic. Great post. I no lomg work in this field but your post definitely made me nostalgic about my undergraduate days.
