Ion I. Agarbiceanu was a specialist in atomic-spectroscopic physics, he was the designer of the first gas laser in Romania between 1960-1961. He was member of the Romanian Academy.
In 1925, at the age of 17, he graduated highschool. In 1930 he graduated the Electrotechnical Institute in Bucharest. In 1934 he graduated the Faculty of Sciences in Paris, obtaining a doctorate in Physics with a Spectroscopy Work.
In 1956, Ion I. Agârbiceanu organized the "Optical Methods in Nuclear Physics" laboratory at the Institute of Atomic Physics in Bucharest, where he researched the hyperfine and isotopic atomic structures, the resonance magnetooptics and thin dielectric layers.
In this laboratory, was realised under Ion leadership, in 1962, the first laser gas (helium-neon) with infrared radiation, after an original conception. By focusing the light beam produced by the monochromatic laser, enormous radiation densities are obtained on very small surfaces.
Romanian Academy always produced some classical brains who enlightened the world with their massive talent specifically in the field of SCIENCE.
Ion I. Agarbiceanu's contribution in the field of physics is much worthy and he can not be ignored whenever the Spectroscopy Work will be discussed in Physics.
