RE: Science Lesson: DNA (Part 2: DNA Replication)

in #science8 years ago

I would like to give a shout-out to @transhuman for giving me the following editing/grammatical advice:

"Eliminate “so as” here: “This process must occur quickly, and with an extremely high degree of accuracy so as to allow for efficient propagation of an organism’s genome.” “so as” is unnecessary. Also “organisms” should be “organism’s”, possessive.

Replace “done so” with “it replicates” because it is more specific and replace “which also requires” with “requiring” because it is less wordy. “This opposite strand is called the lagging strand, and done so in a discontinuous fashion which also requires more proteins and additional complexity.” is replaced with: “This opposite strand is called the lagging strand, and is replicated in a discontinuous fashion requiring more proteins and additional complexity.”

End result: “This opposite strand is called the lagging strand, and it replicates in a discontinuous fashion requiring more proteins and additional complexity.”"

I am passed the time where I can make changes to this post, however I would incorporate every single suggested change if I could. Thank you for your suggestion, they are most appreciated.

I respectfully submit that scientific documents like this be allowed more time to develop. This document is being archived permanently on the blockchain and it would only seem fair to allow authors to update it as long as possible. One solution would be a preliminary review period where technical writers can pour over a submission and make suggestions. Documented improvements to a submission accepted by the authors would be rewarded with cryptocurrency as an incentive to contribute to the creation of the final document archived on the blockchain. Peer reviews of scientific articles and replication of experiments could also be incentivized with cryptocurrency rewards.
