I think it is logical to rely on insects as food as they contain much proteins and need not much space to grow and proliferate. Also she altogether biomass of insects is much higher than "ours" - so that could also be part of the worldwide nutrition problem.
Indeed, it is logical approach. Of course if I would be offered to fly to the Moon on condition that these creatures are main part of the menu, I would eat them as a beans.
