Advantages and Disadvantages of Colonizing the Moon
A lot of elements necessary for life are missing in the rest of our Solar System, but it still doesn't stop people like me to imagine living in other parts of the Solar System. If I have to chose to, I would say that the Moon should be the first place we humans should colonize. Below I will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of colonizing the Moon.
Advantages
I know you would be thinking this is a boring option. I mean we have already been there, and Moon is nothing but a dead rock. However, Moon is also closest to our Earth (only 386,400 kilometers away), and even with the current propulsion technology, it only takes 3 days to reach there. Moreover, the round trip communication between Earth and the Moon is only three seconds, making it almost real time.
Secondly, we could use Moon as a launching pad to reach the rest of the solar system. This is because launching rockets from the moon would be much easier than Earth, due to its low gravity. Moreover, we could build a space elevator much easily there as well.
Furthermore, water has been found to exist on the poles of the moon in the craters found there.
And not to forget, that one would get an awesome view of Earth from the moon, as shown below.
Disadvantages
The major disadvantage is of course the lack of environment, which means that you can't go out on the moon without wearing a space suit. Humans would therefore have to live in pressurized cabins. On the other hand, Saturn's moon Titan has an atmospheric pressure of 1.5 bar, meaning that you can go out there without wearing a space suit.
Secondly, the gravity of Moon is lower than that of Mars, and it has been proven that zero gravity has adverse affects on health. Similar effects could occur in low gravity too.
Moreover, due to lack of atmosphere, Moon cannot stop deadly space radiations coming on its surface. This also increases the chance of moon being hit by meteors. Even small meteors could do significant damage to structures built by humans there.
So, what do you think? Should humans colonize the Moon or should we bypass it and go straight to Mars?
Interesting, but i think we should try to save the earth first before looking for other planets.

And why cant we never see the backside off the moon only the frontside?
Good point , I wonder why I never though of that lol . Do you buy into the whole " the space walk never happened " argument ?
I dont really know what to think, they traveleded the moon 1969, but havent been able to do that again, isnt that strange....
Synchronus rotation. https://www.space.com/24871-does-the-moon-rotate.html
The moon causes tides, which stirs up the oceans. The moon regulates our orbit, reducing climatic swings. The moon gave us our first glimpse at the fact that our Earth wasn’t alone in the universe. Also we can mine resources like titanium🙂 So I also support that we should colonize with the moon😀
We can build underground infrastructures there, we need to create a base on the moon for exploring Mars and others.
