Can Humanity be Saved from Dangerous Energy Production Technologies ? Are These Dangeorus and Unstable Uranium Nuclear Power Plants about to be replaced by Liquid Thorium Energy Plants ??
I heard about this new power production technology called Liquid Flour Thorium Reactors ! The current nuclear technology users Uranium which is firstly using a very rare ingredient to be burned to create energy, but then the side product left behind is absolutely dangerous to carbonic life and for thousands of years and needs to be stored somehwere where it will never escape into the enviroment !
Whereas this LFTR technology uses the ingredient Thorium, which is named after the Nordic God Thor and is so abundant in the nature that it is generally removed in mining processes and put back into the ground as it is considered of little or no use or value ?? But this technology which is known to work can create more energy than the Uranium process and with less product which is infinately easier to mine and producing a side product which is dangeorous for only for 300 years, does seems like the perfect energy producing technology to replace and remove these infinately more dangerous Uranium Energy power plants from our Planet !
So I am not a Nuclear Physicist and I do not have a lot of knowledge on all of this, but I did see it and it caught my attention and thought I would run it by this community of Steem to see is any of you have any ideas on this subject and could maybe shed more light on the matter to me and indeed us all !!

The main downsides/negatives to the LFTR are technology, politics, corrosion and the general public being scared of nuclear radiation. Liquid Fluoride Thorium Reactors were created 50 years ago by an American chap named Alvin Weinberg, but the American Government realised you can't weaponise the by-products and so they weren't interested.
Another point, yes it WAS corrosive, but these tests of this reactor were 50 years ago, our technology has definitely improved since then so a leap to create this reactor shouldn't be too hard.
And nuclear fear is extremely common in the average person, rather irrational though it may be. More people have died from fossil fuels and even hydroelectric power than nuclear power.
No, it would not collapse the economy (yes, people actually ask this question)... just like the use of uranium reactors didn't... neither did coal... This is because you wouldn't have an instant transition from coal... oil... everything else to thorium. We could not do that. Simply due to the engineering. Give it 50 years we might be using thorium instead of coal/oil (too late in terms of global warming, but that's another debate completely), but we certainly won't destroy the earth's economy. Duh.
And yes he said we'd never run out. Not strictly true... bloody sceptics ... LFTRs can harness 3.5 million Kwh per Kg of thorium! 70 times greater than uranium, 10,000 greater than oil... and there is over 2.6 million tonnes of it on earth... Anyone with a calculator, or a brain, will understand that is a lot of energy!!

Am also not knowledgeable in Nuclear Physics, but this does seem like a better solution to Nuclear Power. I have a very bad feel we get wiped out by one of these nukes if we can't find alternatives
Hey there @empress-enemmy, yes well it would seem that uranium was chosen over thorium energy production becuase of the fact that the spent uranium rods created after energy production in conventional nuclear plants gave it the advantage over thorium as a choice for energy production ! As indeed thorium does not produce material suitable for the creation of nuclear weapons ! That right there is a pretty insane information and should let us know the priorities of previous governments when coming to this important decision ! Frankly I hope that this technology which does seem to be doted with all sorts of incredible advantages both in efficiency and with incumbant dangers will be now adopted and installed and the Uranium plants are shut down and removed ! Lets see what happens ??

You may or may not believe me when I say that since decades if not centuries our rulling elites and governments have been infiltrated and run by secret Satatnically based groups and they do not like beauty or this world and would like nothing more than to destroy it ! Its a wonder they have not already managed, but then they are not alone and there are luckily for us counter forces in play !
there are a few modern reactor designs that are really great, they have one that actually eats the nuclear waste from other reactors or nuclear weapons and is super safe but you have to deal with all the goddamned idiot natural gas sponsored tree hugger lefties and all the petroleum sponsored righties.
